Winter evenings can be romantic. Indoor candlelit bars and restaurants feel charming and inviting, while giving you the perfect excuse to get comfortable with the person you’re seeing.
This season, however, date night can feel a little different depending on where you live and what’s really open. For those who live in areas where social aloofness is still a thing, we’ve created the perfect evening look to keep you warm.
For everyone else who’s dating at home, virtually or on the go, we’ve designed outfits that suit the occasion and keep you warm from fall to winter. (Personally, I’m a huge fan of the hiking date outfit. Being in the woods surrounded by snow and frost is magical!).
Cold weather outfits that are ready for any date idea approved by a fashion stylist.
For outdoor dinners, here is an outfit that combines comfort and clothing. The silk top adds an elegant shine to the top, while the high-waisted black jeans have a more refined (but still relaxed) look than the sweatpants. Add gold dangling earrings, a blue pearl handle bag and crocodile leather ankle boots for those lofty accessory accents. Whether it is fall or winter, a trendy jacket is a must, like this cozy ’60s fleece with faux leather trim.
Stay at home comfortably
If you and your partner are dating at home, keep it fun and flirty in a pink romper with fluffy sandals. Since you are not walking outside in the cold, you can show your skin more generously. Go from cute to sexy with lace lingerie after dinner.
Travel time on the way
If the date involves a long drive to your destination with pretty photos along the way, you’ll want to dress for comfort and the weather. Since you are usually in the car, v-neck top, fur coat and finish off with a black toe pointed stiletto heels are a must. Tip: you can wear crop tops in the fall or winter. Just wear it with a warm chunky knit cardigan and put on another layer of outerwear for pit stops at the gas station.
Outside of adventure
For outdoor enthusiasts, a good morning or afternoon walk is the ideal date activity. Make sure you are well bundled up for the trail by stacking the necessary layers on top of each other like a top, shirt jacket and then your outerwear. The advantage of this date look is that you don’t have to be overdressed.
Virtual meeting evening
Whether you’re in an LDR and dating Zoom or having a Facetime date with that person you met on Hinge, it’s all about styling your outfit from waist to waist. Since the camera is focused on your top half, you can put on a glitters deep v-neck top, a dangling earring and a red lipstick to finish off the look. A simple swipe of your favorite lipstick completes your ready-to-use look. For the bottom, keep it cozy and comfortable with leggings and socks.
Date of winter activity
Your date takes you to the mountains. You definitely need a good pair of waterproof boots, pants and jackets (if you’re going skiing or snowboarding, for example). The outfit still does though, if it feels more like an apres ski, minus the skiing, because you can show off your adorable fair isle sweater under the jacket.
Dressed at home
While your partner is busy making a treat in the kitchen for your candlelight dinner, slip into the bedroom to quickly transform into a slightly more chic ensemble than the pajamas you’ve worn all day. This one off shoulder bodycon dress is sexy, but not overly finished. After dinner, you turn into a final piece that your SO won’t be able to forget.
